STRANGE

The skin veils timid frost- against a
Face of crimson flood- the hand is
Slow, the mind is cold- as I whittle time with words
The only one who understands
spins around and spies me in the mirror
Surround myself with those who can
smear the world and make it clearer now

To understand my own- mind's world is
As near as I will be- if said I
Comprehend yours too- lies promenade in parody

Once the truth has been force-fed
rip away your pseudo cocoon
Splinter your emotions and sail
far away on the brightest hue

Strange how sharp distance is felt
Strange to sense a sunflower's tilt
Strange how loosely hearts are held
Strange to watch my innocence wilt

I'd rather do without the things- I own I'd
Rather pull the roots- I've grown and
Stray another way- where only I control the view

The walls are growing much too high
a new kind of strange before my eyes
Surround myself with those who can
smear the world and make it clearer

Strange to watch a scar be made
Strange how things can pierce unseen
Strange how quick feelings can fade
Strange enough to make me scream
